TCS Tracking Status Meanings & Delivery Checkpoints Decoded

Published: 2026-09-08• Last reviewed: 2026-09-19

Quick Answer

Each TCS status is a barcode scan at a point on your parcel's journey: Booked (the label is made), Picked Up (TCS has the parcel), In Transit (on the way to your city), Arrived at Facility (reached your city's hub) and Out for Delivery (a rider has it). Problem statuses such as On Hold or Returned to Shipper mean TCS needs a better address or could not deliver.

The 5 normal steps of a TCS delivery

1. Booked
2. Picked Up
3. In Transit
4. Out for Delivery
5. Delivered

Most parcels go through these five steps in order. Problem statuses (such as On Hold or Returned to Shipper) only appear when something gets in the way of delivery.

Active Transit Checkpoints Explained

Booked (Booking Created)

The sender or shop has entered the parcel in TCS’s system. The parcel is still at the counter or waiting for a pickup van. It has not started moving yet.

Picked Up (Intake Scanned)

TCS now has the parcel, either at an Express Centre or through a pickup. It goes to the local sorting center to be scanned, weighed and sorted.

In Transit (Intercity Linehaul)

Your parcel is on its way to your city. On long routes, such as Karachi to Islamabad or Peshawar, the trip can take a while, and there are no updates until it is scanned at the next hub.

Arrived at Facility (reached your city’s hub)

The parcel has reached the TCS hub in your city. It has been scanned and is being sorted into local delivery areas.

Out for Delivery (a rider has it)

A TCS rider in your area has your parcel and will bring it during normal delivery hours. Keep your phone nearby and the exact COD cash ready.

Exception & Diverted States

Delivery Pending / Attempted

The rider came but could not deliver, for example because nobody was home, the phone was not answered, the building was closed or the guard did not let them in. TCS has not published how many more attempts follow, so check your status again on the next working day.

On Hold (Station Retention)

The parcel is being kept at your local TCS station because of a missing address, a pickup request or a hold you asked for. Call (021) 111-123-456 with your CN to sort it out.

Return in Transit / Returned to Shipper (RTS)

Delivery failed after several tries, or the receiver refused the parcel. It is now going back to the sender’s city and will be returned to them.

Terminal States

A status is considered Terminal when the delivery has reached its final step. Once a parcel shows Delivered, Returned to Shipper, or Cancelled, no more scans will appear for that Consignment Number.
